"Terrorists thought that they would change my aims and stop my ambitions, but nothing changed in my life except this — weakness, fear and hopelessness died, strength, power and courage was born." - Malala Yousafzai.
Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan because she wished to continue to go to school. She spoke today at the United Nations, in her first public appearance since being released from the hospital, on the occasion of the first official Malala Day (and her 16th birthday).
She said that though the day is named for her, really it’s a day for every person around the world struggling for their rights. What a badass kid.
Happy Malala Day, and happy 16th birthday, Malala!
